Technical depth
Networks, communications, infrastructure, and the practical work of keeping complex systems available.
From Antarctic operations to autonomous systems, SCYVEN brings a practical perspective to an ambitious purpose: engineering a more capable tomorrow.
Meet August Stoten ↓

August Stoten brings decades of experience in technology, communications, and operational leadership to SCYVEN.
His career spans corporate and educational technology environments, international infrastructure, and the demanding operations of the United States Antarctic Program. Across these settings, his work has combined hands-on technical problem solving with responsibility for teams, systems, and the resources that keep them functioning.
At McMurdo Station, August progressed through computer support and winter IT supervision to management of Information Technology and Communications. His responsibilities encompassed networks, systems, satellite communications, telecommunications, antenna rigging, desktop support, help desk services, and television broadcast operations. His winter experience also included participation in the Emergency Operations Center and Winter Search and Rescue team.
In a subsequent program-management role with GHG Corporation on the Antarctic Support Contract, his scope included personnel and resources supporting three Antarctic research stations, two research vessels, and U.S. headquarters operations. That work brought together staffing, deployment coordination, budgeting, and annual program planning.
His academic background includes studies in Mechanical Engineering with an Electrical Engineering minor at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Information Systems and Decision Sciences at California State University, Fullerton. This combination of technical study and operational experience informs SCYVEN's approach to creating useful, resilient systems.
August also served in the United States Army as a Tactical Satellite Communications Engineer, adding a military communications background to his experience in technology and Antarctic operations.

Direct experience supporting Antarctic research operations through winter supervision and IT&C management.
People, resources, deployment planning, and budgets coordinated around demanding operational requirements.

SCYVEN develops autonomous systems for persistent sensing, edge intelligence, and resilient operation in extraordinary environments.
AASIN — the Antarctic Autonomous Science & Imaging Node — expresses that direction. It brings SCYVEN's focus on sensing and autonomous operation into the Antarctic setting that helped shape its founder's perspective.
For SCYVEN, discovery begins with a clear understanding of the environment. Craftsmanship turns that understanding into thoughtful design. Creation brings the idea into a form that can serve a real purpose.
